Before opening CLS, Ms. Barr was an academic director for the Harlem Village Academy charter elementary schools. Prior to her work at HVA, she was the elementary principal at the Churchill School, an independent school for children with learning disabilities. She also served as a coach for a NYC DOE network, training teachers on the Common Core. She has been an adjunct lecturer at Hunter College Department of Special Education, where she taught dozens of teachers starting their careers as special educators.
She taught in NYC public schools as a special educator in self-contained, SETSS and ICT classrooms in all grades K-6. Ms. Barr completed her M.S.Ed and advanced certificate in administration and supervision at Hunter College School of Education. She also holds degrees from NYU (M.A.), Yale (M.Phil.) and Harvard University (A.B).
She completed her M.S. Ed. in Teaching Students with Disabilities at Brooklyn College. She completed her advanced certificate in administration and supervision at Long Island University.
