  • Wednesday, May 21st: Climate Action Day- Water

Our school is excited to participate in NYC Public Schools' Climate Action Days, a wonderful opportunity for our entire community to engage with important climate issues.

Our focus on Wednesday, May 21st will be Water!

Climate change significantly impacts our water systems and resources. This special day will be dedicated to learning about the importance of water conservation, the effects of climate change on our waterways, and how we can all take action to protect this vital resource.

We believe that by focusing on themes like water, we can empower our students to become informed and active participants in creating a more sustainable future. This day is about learning, exploring solutions, and understanding our connection to this essential resource.

    How can you get involved?

    • Talk to your child about the importance of water and the challenges of climate change.

    • Ask them about the specific activities they participated in at school on Water Action Day.

    • Consider having conversations at home about water conservation practices.

We're looking forward to a day of engaging learning and action focused on our precious water resources!

For more information about NYC Public Schools' Climate Action Days initiative, you can visit the NYCPS website.

We encourage everyone to participate and learn together!

NYC Public Schools District 24 and the Office of Safety & Youth Development are having a meeting to talk about keeping our middle school and high school students safe. We want to share important information with families and everyone in our community.

We will be talking about two important things:

    • Subway Surfing: This is when kids ride on the outside of subway trains, and it's very dangerous.
    • Human Trafficking: This is when people trick or force others to do things they don't want to do.

We want to help everyone understand these dangers and know how to keep our students safe.

    Where:

    I.S. 061 Leonardo Da Vinci

    98-50 50 Avenue, Queens, NY 11368

    Helpful Information:

If you speak Spanish, Bangla, or Mandarin, someone will be there to help you understand.

We will also have some light snacks to eat.

Please come and join us to learn how we can all work together to keep our kids safe!
